Malacañang is wishing Vice President Leni Robredo “good luck” on her possible presidential run.
“Good luck my friend. Personal friend ko yun,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told POLITIKO.
Robredo, the highest elected member of the opposition, has expressed an interest in running for President in 2022.
“Well, it’s a free country,” said Panelo.
Asked if the Vice President’s bid for the top government post is a threat to the administration, the chief presidential legal counsel said: “We don’t see anybody threatening us, except the enemies of the state threatening the government.”
Garnering 14,418,817 votes, then-first term congresswoman Robredo won the vice presidency in 2016 after defeating then Senators Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Escudero, Antonio Trillanes IV, and Gregorio Honasan II.
